The Setup Options dialog box is used to control various generic CIRCAD parameters.

Click on a tab for detailed information
General:
The General tab defines the configuration parameters that are global across all instances of OmniGlyph. Data file specific parameters are set the the Setup Parameters dialog box.

Initial Startup
Default Editor Type - Allows you to select which of OmniGlyph's editors will be in effect if the program is invoked with no "command line" directives and no files to open.

Default Page Format - Allows you to select the window size and position that will be used when the program is invoked. This parameter may be superceded with a "-Pn" directive on the command line, where n is:
0: Center Quarter
1: Left Half
2: Right Half
3: Dual Left/Right
4: Full Screen
5: Top Half
6: Bottom Half
7: Dual Top/Bottom
8: Maximized

Default Screen Number - Allows you to select the display device that will contain the OmniGlyph window when the program is invoked. This parameter may be superceded with a "-Sn" directive on the command line.

User Preferences
Open Project from Schematic or PCB - Only a single file needs to be selected to cause all files in the project to be opened. A "project" is defined as the PCB file plus all related schematic files. Although the various netlist files, log files, and Gerber files are technically all part of a single project, these auxiliary files are not opened with this function.

Animated block perimeter - Any defined containment blocks will be displayed in outline form with the individual lines consisting of a set of marching dashes. If this selection is deactivated, blocks will be drawn with the entire region shaded or highlighted.

Thick Cross-hair Cursor - The graphics cross-hair cursor will be drawn with a width of three (3) pixels. If this selection is deactivated, the cursor will be only one single pixel wide. The thicker cursor is more pleasing on a high resolution LCD display while the thinner option is more desirable on an old-fashioned CRT monitor.

Zoom In/Out with mouse buttons - The Zoom In and Zoom Out functions are accessible by simply clicking on the left or right mouse buttons while the cursor is in windows (pointer) mode with no mouse button functions in effect. The amount of magnification zoomed with each click is defined in the Zoom Factors tab of the Setup Options dialog box.

Use Windows Explorer file open - Use the plain vanilla File Explorer dialog box will be used by the File Open function instead of the modern and full featured OmniGlyph File Open box.

Reduced data file format - OmniGlyph Version 5 data files will be written to disk in an abbreviated format. This option is recommended only for users that must endure a restricted amount of hard drive space or have a limited quota.

Always enable File Save - The "Save" entry in the File menu will always be enabled for use, even if the file has not been modified.

Display all dimensions in grid snap unit - The Place and Edit dialog boxes will ignore the units and resolution stored in the individual data elements and instead use whatever units and resolution has been selected for the current grid snap. This is a very dangerous option to enable because careless use can result in the irrecoverable loss of data elements resolution.

Un-Do beyond Save to disk - The File Save function will not empty the Un-Do buffer. Used primarily on text files, this option will permit you to make an experimental change to a data file, save it to disk for use by another program, then un-do the change before continuing with normal editing.

Write log files to disk - Log files will be written to disk as they are created and displayed in the auxiliary log window. If this option is not selected, Alternatively you will have to manually save log files by selecting "File Save" or "File Save As..." from the main menu of the log window.

Display Pop-up File Information - A "tool-tip" pop-up will appear after a short "hover time" has elapsed when the pointer cursor is placed over one of the file tabs. The file bar is located near the top of the main window just under the menu bar. The amount information presented will vary slightly depending on what type of file is being queried.

Display Pop-up Menu Help - Menu selections will automatically display a detailed context sensitive help message whenever the pointer cursor is placed over a menu item.

Display Pop-up Dialog Box Help - Specially enhanced dialog boxes (such as this one) will automatically display a detailed context sensitive help message whenever the pointer cursor is placed over a data field. If this option is disabled, context help tips may be enabled on an "as needed" basis on the various individual dialog boxes.

Display Pop-up Function Messages - Large and easy to read pop-up prompting message boxes will appear at the bottom of the data window (just above the status bar) each time the program needs a specific action to be performed by the user. If this option is disabled, prompting messages will still be displayed, but they will be restricted in verbosity by the short message field of the status bar.

Display Title Bar - The OmniGlyph window will be displayed with a standard "title" bar at the top. For users desiring additional screen space for the editing portion of the window, this option may be disabled, which will unfortunately decrease compatibility with other programs.

Display Menu Bar - The OmniGlyph window will be displayed with a standard "menu" bar at the top. For users desiring additional screen space for the editing portion of the window, this option may be disabled without suffering other serious consequences. If disabled, the menu bar will re-appear whenever the pointer cursor is moved to the top of the client data area, and disappear when the cursor is once again moved into the graphics data area.

Display File Bar - The OmniGlyph window will be displayed with a standard "file" bar at the top. For users desiring additional screen space for the editing portion of the window, this option may be disabled without suffering other serious consequences. If both the file and menu bars are disabled, the both will re-appear whenever the pointer cursor is moved to the top of the client data area, and both will disappear when the cursor is once again moved into the graphics data area.

Display Status Bar - The OmniGlyph window will be displayed with a standard "status" bar at the bottom. For users desiring additional screen space for the editing portion of the window, this option may be disabled, with the unfortunate loss of important graphical readouts such as the cursor X/Y position, the current grid snap setting, and the currently active function.
